Trying Out For the Public Service
Recently I was given the opportunity to try my luck for employment with the public service. Actually, it was more like being given the opportunity to sit for the Public Service Exam for future employment with the Public Sector.
Sitting for the exam, which takes the whole day for 5 papers, was like sitting for SPM all over again.
For one thing, sitting for the mathematical paper left me dizzy and confused! I am so against maths and anything mathematical the whole 45 minutes I was doing the 25 questions, I felt stressed and very pressured. It was like Form Five all over again.
Nonetheless, the other four papers were a breeze.
The paper on Sahsiah Diri (Personality) was fun because it really shows the person that I am. Also, there are always repeat questions in such a paper and it is always wise to respond the way you did the first time.
Then the Minat paper was more for the determination on which post you are suited for. Naturally, all technical posts were replied TIDAK (no) by me whilst the creative questions get an occasional YA and the writing/public relations/communications questions get a resounding YA!
The Pengetahuan Am (General Knowledge) paper was a breeze also because i read a lot and it was very comforting to know that i know nearly 85 per cent of the respond to questions asked.
The BM and English paper was combined; it was int he form of article understanding and grammar. Such a breeze for me.
Though the last paper was to last till 4.00pm, I walked out the of the exam hall at 3.25pm.
Wish me luck!

A Reason to Cry, Many More Reasons To Laugh 02
More than two years ago, I put a short entry on this blog. Today, this is the answer to that entry.

At about 18 months, she decided that she no longer wants to drag her bottom on the floor. So one fine day, she got up right and stood up.

For her second birthday, she spent it in Miri at her Godmother's home.

At 2 and a half, she was showing the cheeky side of her.

At 3years of age, she was naughty, cheeky, considerate, and loving.

Now she is young lady of nearing 4years.
And that, my dear readers, is God's gift to me. Because no matter what others say, my Emma writes!

At Play (01)
My girls love going back up country to where my parents live. Because there, they get to play outside the house and not be confined in doors. Here, you get to see what happens when they are let 'loose' ...

Circle of Friends
Some people, I will always treasure their friendship and association. Many people whom I know, especially through my former employment, are people of great character. Not to mention, well-known in society for their work and thoughts.
Without mentioning names - cos I really don't have to esp. if you're Malaysian - I am grateful for their friendship and to be called a friend by....

When Thank You Is Just Not Enough...
The last time I counted, I have been working at my present employment for 26 months. And within that 26 months, I have had only one increment. Actually, it was more like an adjustment I got on my salary when I was confirmed at my job.
Two months later, I was re designated.
I was re-titled Manager.
And my take-home pay check is less than USD450.00(equiv.)
My pay slip makes me want to cry...
Because
... after burning the midnight oil to salvage the damage done onto the souvenir booklet of our first international conference...
... after diligently coming to work early and going back late...
... after squeezing out all forms of ideas out of my head to come up with articles so our newspaper column is sustained...
... after designing the organisation's library system's logo....
... after designing the logo for our first international conference...
all I got was a 'thank you' cert and a check for (equiv.) USD88.23
Didn't people say designers/creative persons are well-paid?

The Person You Are Trying To Reach Is Not Available....

I am off to KK in sabah tomorrow for a business meeting.
I love this trip because I may potentially meet my brother whom I have not met since 1989! Having worked and married the local there, he never came back after that. That's the Prodigal Son in the family....
I hate this trip because this will be my 2nd travels within this month alone. And I am tired. I also hate this trip because traveling drains my personal finances, no matter how much we avoid buying unnecessary stuff. But buying food to feed your stomach on a strange and new place is enough to burn a hole in your pocket. And somehow, McDonald's seems more 'expensive' in these strange and new places compared to home.
So will I have a good trip or one that I wish I didn't embark on. Only time will tell...and that will be Friday pm when I return once again to update this blog....

Life is Full of Waiting
I am tired of waiting but life seems full of it.
Waiting for my supervisor....
Waiting for my meeting participants....
Waiting for the time to pick up Hubby from work...
Waiting for my kid after school...
Waiting for the weekend...
Waiting for my pay raise...
Waiting for my PC to switch on/off...
Waiting....
We even wait for the day when we are summoned to the Creator's negotiation table...

Sorry, no time....
I have been extremely busy at work lately. I can't even find the time to put things up here. So many readers can help me...
..find another job that pays me enough to be busy enough to not have time to feel guilty about maintaining a blog that is not updated regularly.

21st of the 3rd month
21st March is chosen to signify the uniqueness of the Down Syndrome as the Trisomy 21 chromosome is used synonymously with Down Syndrome.
In conjunction with today, I share with all readers this poignant poem about the disability.
My face might be different
But my feelings the same
I laugh and I cry
And I take pride in my gains
I was sent here among you
To teach you to love
As god in the heavens
Looks down from above
To him I'm no different
His love knows no bounds
It's those here among you
In cities and towns
That judge me by standards
That man has imparted
But this family I've chosen
Will help me get started
For I'm one of the children
So special and few
That came here to learn
The same lessons as you
That love is acceptance
It must come from the heart
We all have the same purpose
Though not the same start
The Lord gave me life
To live and embrace
And I'll do as you do
But at my own pace.
Additionally, I would like to share this little article in the National Geographic website written by a teenager with Down Syndrome. Someday I hope my Emma will be able to express herself as such.

This pool… I Like
Some weeks back, I organized a talk at a local hotel here. While waiting for the participants to arrive, I went around the hotel to look at the facilities offered. And I came across the swimming pool.
And I like.
Situated on the 2nd floor, the pool is very private. During the time I came across it, it was empty. Probably because it was a week-day. Probably because it was drizzling.
But really, the privacy offered to swimmers – being on the 2nd floor – is the best that a pool can offer.
And so, thumbs up to the Grand Hotels Group for this. Yahoo….! Swim!
